As Member, NITI Aayog, Prof. Karandikar contributes to India’s development agenda across science, technology, emerging technologies, inclusive growth, and evidence-based policymaking.
Previously, as Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (October 2023–May 2026), he operationalized transformative national initiatives including the National Quantum Mission, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), and the &rupee;1 Lakh Crore Research, Development and Innovation Fund for private-sector R&D and deep-tech startups.
